Does Glenville Smiles offer any financing options?
Glenville Smiles understands that not everyone may be able to make their dental payments in full. Because of this, we are proud to offer financing options to fit your budget! We offer short term in-house financing options as well as Care Credit.

What kind of insurance does Glenville Smiles accept?
We are a self-pay, out of network practice. Even though our practice does not accept insurance, we believe in high quality work with total dedication to our clients.

What do I need to bring to my first appointment?
For your first appointment, Glenville Smiles requires your basic contact information, as well as your insurance card if you have one. Call our office with any other specific questions you may have about your first appointment.

Who is a candidate for dental implants?
The most ideal candidate for dental implants is someone who has good oral health. Dental implants require a sufficient amount of bone in your jaw which is needed to support the implants once they’re installed. Healthy gum tissue is also imperative to successful treatment. Come in for a consultation at Glenville Smiles today to see if you qualify!

Are dental implants painful?
Glenville Smiles understands the anxiety that comes with dental procedures, which is why we always use local anesthesia for our dental implant procedures. Once the local numbing has taken effect, you shouldn’t feel pain during the procedure.

How soon can I eat after getting dental implants?
Once the numbing goes away, you can resume eating and drinking. For a speedy recovery, it’s best to avoid spicy foods; very hot or very cold foods; acidic foods such as citrus or tomatoes; hard and sticky foods such as candy, chips and popcorn; and seeds until your dental implants have properly healed.

How soon can I go back to work after getting dental implants placed?
This one depends on the patient. Some patients choose to go back to work the same day, while others take a few days off from work to recover.

How long does it take to place dental implants?
At Glenville Smiles, the dental implant procedure generally takes about an hour for a single implant. Depending on how many implants a patient needs, it can take more time. The initial placing of dental implants will be temporary, and a follow up appointment will be needed once your permanent implants come in.

How long does the dental implant process take?
From the initial consultation to your first appointment for your impressions and temporary implants, to your permanent implants coming in, this process typically will take around 4-5 months from start to finish. Once the permanent dental implants are in place, your jaw will take about 4-6 months to fully heal.

How long do dental implants last?
The longevity of your dental implants is highly dependent on how you take care of your dental implants after your procedure. Although dental implants are designed to last upwards of 25 years, if you’re not taking care of your teeth properly, then this number becomes reduced. Other factors such as any pre-existing conditions and your overall oral health also play a role in how long your dental implants will last.

What brand of dental implants do you use?
Glenville Smiles is proud to be partnered with one of the best dental implant brands in the industry: BioHorizons. BioHorizons’ dental implants are lightweight, biocompatible, and created with titanium for durability.

Who is a candidate for dentures?
Suitability for dentures will vary on the person and their situation. For patients with periodontal disease or when teeth cannot be saved, dentures may be the perfect solution. Call Glenville Smiles today to learn more.

How long does it take to get dentures?
This depends on the type of denture that a patient needs, however, it generally takes between 2-4 weeks for your new dentures to be ready.

How long do dentures last?
On average, you can expect your dentures to last for about five years.

Do I still need to schedule regular dental visits with dentures?
Yes! When you have dentures, your dental visits will consist of thoroughly cleaning your dentures as well as an oral cancer screening. If we notice that your dentures need any adjustments, adjustments will be made as needed.

How long does it take to get a root canal?
A root canal procedure with Glenville Smiles usually takes about an hour to complete.

Can you eat after a root canal?
Yes; once the numbing goes away, you can resume normal eating and drinking. Your tooth may be sensitive after your root canal, so you may need to take it easy for the first few days after your procedure is completed. We recommend chewing on the opposite side of your mouth and eating soft foods for a few days to avoid any discomfort or pain.

How long does it take for professional teeth whitening?
Professional teeth whitening with Glenville Smiles typically takes around an hour and a half to complete. Once your professional teeth whitening is complete, you’ll leave our office with a beautiful, sparkling white smile that you can show off!

How long do the results of professional teeth whitening last?
No matter where you decide to have professional teeth whitening performed, longevity of the whitening will be highly dependent upon the patient and their diet. If you’re a big wine or coffee drinker, or if you smoke cigarettes, you’ll likely need your teeth whitened more often than a patient who does not do these things. It’s best to avoid anything that will stain your teeth, if possible.

Does Glenville Smiles take emergency appointments?
Yes, we do! Glenville Smiles is available 24/7 to help you with any dental emergencies that may arise. Call us immediately when you’re facing a dental emergency!

What do I do if a tooth falls out during a sports injury?
With sports injuries, we’d like to treat you ASAP. You should come in for an emergency appointment and we will set up a treatment plan to help get you back to your normal life.

What happens if my filling falls out?
If you think your filling may have fallen out, call Glenville Smiles as soon as you can. While this may be as simple as re-filling your tooth, it’s important that we assess the situation properly. We’ll bring you in for an emergency appointment and we will inspect your tooth to recommend a treatment plan to best treat your situation.

What is sedation dentistry?
Some patients are extremely anxious or even frightened of a visit to the dentist. Sedation dentistry practices allow these patients to get their necessary dental work completed without tension. Our office offers several different sedation options to keep patients comfortable.

Is sedation dentistry safe?
There is always some risk when it comes to sedation and anesthesia, but it is generally safe when administered by an experienced dentist. We will review your medical history before we approve any sedation to make sure that the risk of developing any complications is minimal.

Am I a candidate for sedation dentistry?
Sedation dentistry is most appropriate for patients who have a low pain threshold, cannot sit still in the dentist's chair, have bad gag reflex, have very sensitive teeth, or need a large amount of work to be completed. Children and adults with behavioral needs can also benefit from sedation dentistry.

Do I need a porcelain veneer?
Dental veneers are used to fix unsightly teeth and create an attractive smile. They are made of porcelain and are installed over your existing teeth. If your teeth are chipped, worn down, uneven, abnormally spaced, stained, or misaligned, you might be a good candidate for dental veneers. Keep in mind that the process is irreversible, so if you're interested in a veneer you will need to discuss your options with your dentist.

How does a dental crown work?
A dental crown is a permanent prosthetic device that fits over an infected tooth to prevent it from taking further damage. They are made from porcelain or ceramic and can be made to match your existing teeth for a more natural look. We will create your dental crown to your unique specifications and place it for you.
